Australian Varieties
Cascade
Tasmanian grown Cascade has been propagated from Cascade plants imported from the USA by Hop Products Australia and is very similar to the US grown Cascade variety. It is characterized by a dark green elongated cone which contains low amounts of alpha acids. The aroma is of medium strength and very distinct.
Cluster
The Australian grown hop variety Cluster is a medium alpha acid variety grown by Hop Products Australia in small quantities. The Alpha acid content is medium, aroma is strong and storage stability of the alpha acids is among the best in the world.
Galaxy
The Australian hop variety Galaxy is a high alpha dual purpose seedless cultivar with a marked and unique hop aroma. Bred by Hop Products Australia at their Rostrevor Breeding Garden Victoria, and currently grown in Victoria and Tasmania.
Millennium
The Australian grown hop Millennium is a high alpha triploid cultivar bred by Barth Haas group member John I Haas’ breeding programme in the USA. Millennium was released for commercial production in 2000.
Pride of Ringwood
The Australian hop variety Pride of Ringwood is a high alpha cultivar. It has been commercially grown since the 1960’s and is widely used in Australia and around the world. Pride of Ringwood is a very well regarded high alpha Australian bred bitter variety with pleasant hop aroma.
Southern Hallertau
The Australian hop variety Southern Hallertau is an aroma type bred by Hop Products Australia at their Rostrevor Breeding Garden in Victoria. Bred from the popular German Hallertau Mittelfrueh variety, it is characterised by a very mild and pleasant hop aroma.
Southern Saaz
The Australian hop variety Southern Saaz is a seedless aroma type bred from Czech Saaz by Hop Products Australia at their Bushy Park Breeding Garden. Southern Saaz is characterised by herbal, spicy, resinous notes.
Summer Saaz
The Australian hop variety Summer Saaz is a seedless aroma variety grown by Hop Products Australia since 1997.
Summer Saaz is characterised by balanced, sweet, and fruity hop aromas. Even the untrained nose is quick to detect passionfruit, citrus and melon. It has been noted to be similar in character to the Czech Saaz parent, but without the spicy characteristic.
Super Pride
The Australian hop variety Super Pride is a seedless high alpha acid variety, bred by the Hop Products Australia Rostrevor breeding programme. Bred from the famous Pride of Ringwood – Australia’s dominant hop variety since the 1960’s – Super Pride features similar mild aromas and low Cohumulone levels. Super Pride has higher alpha acid than its mother Pride of Ringwood.
Topaz
The Australian hop variety Topaz is a seedless high alpha acid variety. Bred by the Hop Products Australia at their Rostrevor Breeding Garden Victoria. Topaz is a very robust variety with tight compact cones that hold well on maturity.

The Australian hop variety Victoria is a seedless high alpha acid variety bred by Hop Products Australia at their Rostrevor Breeding Garden Victoria .
Willamette
The Australian grown hop variety Willamette is a seedless aroma variety grown by Hop Products Australia since 1988. Willamette has Fuggle type aroma qualities. It is known for its aromatic properties and moderate bittering. It has been used as a replacement for Fuggle hops. It is characterised by moderate alpha acids (moderately bittering) and aroma qualities.
