Pride of Ringwood
The Australian hop variety Pride of Ringwood is a high alpha cultivar. It has been commercially grown since the 1960’s and is widely used in Australia and around the world. Pride of Ringwood is a very well regarded high alpha Australian bred bitter variety with pleasant hop aroma.
Pride of Ringwood imparts a unique “Australian” flavour to beer.
Pride of Ringwood is used extensively for both early and late kettle additions.
Origin
Pride of Ringwood was bred by Carlton and United Breweries in 1953 at their Ringwood Research Station Melbourne Victoria. This cultivar was bred by open pollination of a female related to the English cultivar Pride of Kent.
Note: 12-50-5 is an open pollination of Pride of Kent from the East Malling research station.
