Who: Spotty Dog Brewers
Where: 11 Bender Dr, Derwent Park
When: Fri 2-10pm, Sat 12-10pm, Sun 12-6pm
Spotty Dog started as a daydream between two brothers-in-law, Klimt Donohoe and Michael Ryback, whilst travelling South America, drinking cold beers in the hot sun. Then it became reality, starting with gypsy brewing at Last Rites, Shambles and Ocho, before finally opening a production brewery and taproom overlooking Prince of Wales Bay in the industrial suburb of Derwent Park.
Formerly known for their more internationally focused IPAs and much-loved Single Hop Series, Spotty Dog have now made it their mission to showcase Tasmania to their customers. “This simply isn’t possible without local ingredients” says Klimt. We recommend you try their Cali Haze featuring Galaxy, or their Export Lager featuring Ella and Topaz.
The brand-new venue was designed around hosting celebrations because that’s what Spotty love about hospitality. It’s minimalist with floor-to-ceiling glass and a spectacular view of Mount Wellington that can be enjoyed from the spacious outdoor deck in the warmer months, or sealed tight behind closed doors in the cooler months. The space seats up to 100 people with a full kitchen scheduled to be up and running in March. In the meantime, they’re hosting a rotating roster of food trucks.
