Who: Crank Handle Brewery
Where: 211 Kiewa Valley Highway, Tawonga
When: Thursday to Sunday
Local brothers Craig and Trev King’s Crank Handle journey began when they purchased the business from Mick Piera in 2021. They had previously been honing their craft in the back shed, and jumped at the opportunity to take over the small craft brewery in Mount Beauty, situated at the base of Mt Bogong in the beautiful Kiewa Valley. The venue currently sports a 500L brewhouse, 4 x 500L fermenters, and 1 x 1000L fermenter, with plans to expand into the recently acquired butcher building next door. Craig and Trev have also begun to develop their drinks menu by distilling a variety of different spirits.
Crank Handle brew onsite using fresh mountain water that gives their beers an extra crisp note. They also serve a range of locally sourced food, as well as hosting the occasional food truck, that can be enjoyed by locals and visits alike in their cosy venue or beaut little beer garden.
We recommend trying their most popular beer Mosaic Galaxy XPA which is always on tap, and can also be found throughout Falls Creek. You can also try Fresh Galaxy XPA and Fresh Eclipse Pale Ale which are crammed full of our Aussie hops.
