Who: Billson’s Brewery
Where: 29 Last St, Beechworth

Billson’s Brewery was established in 1865, making them one of the oldest continuing beverage manufacturers in Australia. They have always been known for their cordials but have recently carved out a market with their RTD’s. After an 80-year hiatus, new owners Nathan and Felicity Cowan decided it was time to start brewing beer again when they found on old diary and some original labels in 2017. The Head Brewer Hamish McArthur has had a whirlwind first 12 months, releasing 3 beers that are exclusively available from the venue, and increasing his team from 120 to around 200.
Their 10HL, 3-vessel brewhouse is shared between Billson’s beer and RTD manufacturing. We enjoy a close relationship with their brewers, who love our Aussie hops. Both their mid-strength pale ale and their full-strength pale ale feature Ella and Galaxy.
The beautifully restored building hides a myriad of different activities including brewery tours, taproom, beer garden, cellar door, tasting room, and an underground speakeasy. It’s almost impossible to experience them all in one day, so we suggest you stop by again, and again, and again.
